“For the foreign visitor, the twin hurdles of the language barrier and simply not knowing that some of the museums exist has long been a problem. This is far less of a concern with the release of The Art Lover’s Guide to Japanese Museums, by London-based art historian Sophie Richard. […] Cleverly designed and laid-out, the book has a section that explains the basics on getting the most out of Japanese art.”
- The South China Morning Post

Published in 2014, The Art Lover’s Guide to Japanese Museums was Sophie’s first book. The result of three years of research, it introduces a selection of over fifty museums. For each venue, information is given on the span of the collection, the rotation of works and exhibitions as well as the building itself. There are also pointers to further galleries and special places to visit nearby.
